Self-Guided Visit of Biltmore House

Your admission includes a self-guided visit to Biltmore House. Stroll through America's largest home® on a marked route, assisted by knowledgeable guides along the way. This tour takes 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. You'll drink in all the amazing sights of architecture, artwork, and much more from the Gilded Age. Also includes your free visit to Antler Hill Village and Winery, with free winery tastings.

Our other richly informative and entertaining guided specialty tours, below, will immerse you in the history and atmosphere of Biltmore®. All prices are in addition to estate admission.

Audio Guide to Biltmore House

Capture the feeling of being guided through Biltmore’s grand rooms by our curators and hosts. On this 90-minute tour, you’ll learn about the Vanderbilts, their guests, and their servants, in addition to the surrounding architecture, design, and artwork.

Kids’ Audio Guide to Biltmore House

This fun and entertaining 90-minute tour is narrated by Cedric, the Vanderbilts’ Saint Bernard. Cedric guides young guests through amazing rooms in Biltmore House, sharing stories about the Vanderbilts and living in America’s largest home.

Guided Biltmore House Tour

On this guided 90-minute tour, hear interesting stories about parties in the house, information on artifacts, personalities of friends who visited, and ways the family spent time on the estate.

Rooftop Tour

Enjoy amazing views from rooftops and balconies and get a closer look at the design and construction of Biltmore House with this 60-minute guided tour of areas not on the regular house visit. Offered daily at 10:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. Advance reservations are required.

Cost: $22 per person. Call to reserve.


Upstairs – Downstairs Tour

In this 60-minute guided tour, descend the back stairs to explore servant life at Biltmore. Discover cutting-edge technology that kept America’s largest home humming. Visit the domains of the butler, head housekeeper, and lady’s maid, then continue on to a suite of guest rooms to learn about grand house parties hosted by the Vanderbilts. Offered daily at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.

Cost: $22 per person. Call to reserve.


Premium Biltmore House Tour

Tour the house for two hours with a guide assigned exclusively to you. Includes areas seen in the Upstairs - Downstairs Tour, Rooftop Tour, and House Tours. Offered daily at 10:30 a.m. Two-day advance reservations are required.

Cost: $150 per adult, $75 per child. Call to reserve.

Tour of Estate Grounds

Legacy of the Land Tour

Take a motor coach tour of the estate and learn about the history of the land, structures, and former residents. You’ll visit areas not usually open to guests. Offered daily at 1:00 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Advance reservations are recommended.

Winery Tours

Red Wine & Chocolate Seminar

Discover why chocolate and red wine are a match made in heaven. Including locally produced artisan chocolates from French Broad Chocolate and Chocolate Gems, the program centers on production of wine at Biltmore and chocolate where you will taste and experience the tactile attributes of a raw cacao bean and the process of farming origin-specific cacao and its influence on the finished product. This 45-minute program is offered daily at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. 

Cost: $25 per person. Guests must be 21 years of age to attend.

Behind-the-Scenes Winery Production Tour

Take advantage of this opportunity to go on a guided tour of the Winery’s production facility. You’ll see how science and nature meet as you learn about the estate’s vineyards, discover the unique factors that affect grapes grown in North Carolina, and delve into the craft of fermentation. The tour concludes with a tasting of Biltmore wines in a private setting. Offered Monday - Friday at 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. hourly.

Cost: $10 per person. No age restrictions for the tour; Guests must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol.

Wine & Cheese Hour

Come join us for a social hour filled with delicious Biltmore Wines and pairings hosted by Biltmore Winery's most knowledgeable wine aficionados. Be among friends as we create a fun and welcoming environment for learning and discovery in the world of wine. Offered Friday and Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $25 per person. Guests must be 21 years of age to attend.

Vine to Wine Tour
April 1 - November 2, 2017

Explore how Biltmore grapes become our award-winning wines with this 2.5 hour tour. Visit areas on the estate not normally seen by guests, including a trip to the vineyards and a walking production tour. Sample wine tastings throughout the tour and conclude with a grand tasting. Visitors must purchase tickets by 11:00 a.m. on the day of the tour. Available April 1 - May 26 on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. Available May 27 - November 2 on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 1:00 p.m.

Cost: $85 per person. Guests must be 21 years of age to attend.

Celebration of Sparkling Wine

This engaging 45-minute program allows estate guests to fully experience our sparkling offerings. An informative behind-the-scenes tour of the champagne bottling room provides an insider’s view of how Biltmore’s sparkling wines are crafted with the traditional méthode champenoise. Following the tour, guests will enjoy a tasting of all available sparkling wines with well-planned pairings that showcase the versatility of the effervescent style of wine. Offered Sunday - Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Limited to 20 attendees, reservations recommended; call to reserve, or visit guest services on day of visit.

Candlelight Winery Tour

November 3 - January 6

Experience an intimate candlelit tour of Biltmore Winery as members of our staff give you a rare look into the winemaking process in the spirit of holiday warmth and hospitality. Learn about our estate vineyards and historic winery building, then sample some of our award-winning wines with a light cheese pairing surrounded by the relaxing glow of candlelight. This 45-minute program is offered Fridays and Saturdays at 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. Register at the Winery entrance in Antler Hill Village.

Cost: $20 per person. Guests must be 21 or older to be served alcohol.
